Brittling and Breakage of a Timpo Infantería Confederada SergeantPlastic Corrosion due to Oxygen and UV Radition
This antique 1st Series Timpo Confederate infantryman has brittled to such an extend that the stress of his plug-in legs was sufficient to burst the torso. The damaged sergeant continues to serve in the Confederate Army, because the crack in his side is conveniently hidden by the right arm, when viewed from above. The figure’s torso and legs still fit together tightly enough to keep the parts from separating during play. However, as the thermoplastic material continues to brittle, it is only a matter of time until the sergeant will disintegrate further.
